Cyphostemma lanigerum inflorescence

Cyphostemma lanigerum inflorescence
Author: Ivan Lätti

The inflorescence of Cyphostemma lanigerum is broadly circular and flattish above the leaves. The sparsely many-flowered branches that ascend slightly before they spread horizontally end in spaced cyme clusters.

The flower buds on reddish pedicels are constricted in the centre. The cream flowers are four-petalled. The fruit is a pendulous, ovoid berry that starts off green and hairy, turning red. There are often some of each developmental stage in an inflorescence (Van Wyk and Malan, 1997; iNaturalist; http://growwild.co.za).
