Selago flanaganii flowers

The small, short-stalked flowers of Selago flanaganii grow in large inflorescences comprising clustered racemes near the tips of many small stems. Flowers often cover the upper parts of the bushes in season in spectacular fashion.

There is in every flower a cup-shaped, five-lobed calyx and a tubular, two-lipped, five-lobed corolla in white or shades of mauve. The single longer, round-tipped corolla lobe is a generic Selago hallmark. Corolla diameter is about 14 mm. There are four stamens in two pairs, only one pair slightly exserted. Exserted styles are visible in picture.
