Protea dracomontana produces pink and creamy white flowerheads. In this plant the colouring is a compromise favouring white.

The cone of perianths appears identical to the white form of the plant, while the bracts are touched with pink in some upper patches. The faint hair fringes or cilia along the bract margins are here whitish in some parts, dark in others (Rebelo, 1995; Rourke, 1980; iNaturalist).
