Muraltia heisteria flowers grow on short pedicels. They may be purple, white or a bit of both, when only the side petals or lateral wing petals are white.

If a species continues three distinct flowering colour forms on different plants, one may think that no single form has yet gained a sufficient edge in evolution to eliminate the other two, meaning that genetic or ecological factors keep all three in the mix for now. Like our own species, nature treats all extant species, the currently living, as work in progress. Winning forms are from time to time determined and presented by arriving patterns in environmental conditions or challenges. Or something inside changes.

All losers live forever only in history (Curtis-Scott, et al, 2020; Manning 2009; iNaturalist; Wikipedia; https://www.worldfloraonline.org).
