The long, narrow leaves of Chaenostoma revolutum curve in various ways. New tufts of smaller leaves grow from the axils. The leaves in picture have an olive-green colour. Tiny glandular hairs are present upon the blade surfaces.

The upper stems are paler than the leaves, also bearing a soft, short hair covering or indumentum (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015).
