Aspalathus sceptrum-aureum flowers

The bright, yellow flowers of Aspalathus sceptrum-aureum grow solitary, scattered upon the rigid stems.

The standard petal is hairy on the back as the calyx, the keel hairless. The inside of the banner petals appear orange on older flowers. The flowers are large, up to 17 mm long.

Flowering happens from late winter through spring.

The pods are also densely hairy (Vlok and Schutte-Vlok, 2015; Moriarty, 1997; Bond and Goldblatt, 1984; iNaturalist).
