    The Leucadendron xanthoconus female flowerheads becoming fruit cones are seen at the stem-tips. They are about ellipsoid, greenish and white from bracts and florets. The green stem leaves lower down contrast against the upper, yellow, involucral ones around the flowerheads. The innermost yellow ones in the centre immediately below the heads, are shorter and broader, like bracts.

    Only the very top parts of the erect stems, partly covered by leaves, have not yet turned reddish in the photo (Manning, 2007; Bean and Johns, 2005; Mustart, et al, 1997; Rebelo, 1995; iNaturalist).
