This night photo version of Ferraria ferrariola flowers displays the blue option of outer tepal parts. The usual black line-and-dot speckling on a white background is all over the inner parts of the three inner, bigger tepal lobes that curve out. The tips of all six tepals have crisped margins that curve in again, rendering the elaborate corollas remarkable.

The geometry in corolla architecture enhanced by floral colour complexity turns much of the Ferraria genus into the baroque component of the Iridaceae family.

The floral cups of F. ferrariola are up to 2 cm deep and 1,2 cm wide, the tepals up to 4 cm long (Le Roux, et al, 2005; Manning and Goldblatt, 1996; iNaturalist; https://www.worldfloraonline.org).
